The American Institute of Architecture Students

American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is the student branch of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). AIAS sponsors many professional, social, and service events throughout the year including the Beaux Arts Ball. Our chapter also has Freedom By Design (FBD), which is dedicated to serving our local community.

A Student Organization of

Life as an Architecture Student

The Mississippi 91ÖÆƬ³§ University School of Architecture provides a supportive environment for personal growth and professional development. Studio learning is a unique experience; our students have their own designated studio space in Giles Hall and have 24/7 access to that space.

One big advantage of studio learning is it allows for more students to have more one-on-one time with professors; the Mississippi 91ÖÆƬ³§ University Bachelor of Architecture degree program boasts a low 15:1 student to faculty ratio.

Computer Requirements

The School of Architecture at Mississippi 91ÖÆƬ³§ University requires the purchase of an appropriate laptop computer and software. On entering the design studio sequence, each student is required to purchase a laptop computer and software that meet the specifications below. The laptop and required peripherals must be up and running by November 1 of the fall semester or by June 10 of summer I term.

Acceptance Process and Requirements

Acceptance to the School of Architecture is limited and highly competitive. Admission to Mississippi 91ÖÆƬ³§ University does not guarantee acceptance to the School of Architecture.

The acceptance process consists of two steps for all students:

1. Apply to Mississippi 91ÖÆƬ³§ University and indicate a major in architecture.
